In 2016 Alicia Key’s Keep A Child Alive foundation invited us to replicate the successes of our Rwanda Youth Music program in Uganda. Working with the largest HIV clinic in Kampala we trained young members of the community to provide impactful support through music for young people living with HIV.

Training an amazing team

From 2016 to 2017 we ran a one year training course for 30 youth leaders from Alive Medical Services. The Rwanda Youth Music team led the training, supported by Musicians Without Borders’ international trainers.

Young community music leaders at Alive Medical Services continue their work and have provided support through music to 1,000s of children and youth. Doctors and nurses have seen both the social and physical health of children and youth improve after participating in the music sessions.

“Music means a lot to me. It makes me active, encourages me, and makes me feel good and well.

Music makes me feel stigma free.”
