Well known for its hospitality, Jordan accepts refugees from neighboring countries suffering from conflict, resulting in a mosaic of different cultures, different languages, and different stories of war and violence.

Working in partnership with Tajalla for Music and Arts, cultural heritage sits at the core of Al-Musiqa Tajm’ana’s work with children from all backgrounds, while our music leadership training courses for musicians and educators focus on creativity, safety and inclusion.

Once a week, Tajalla’s musicians travel from Amman to Al-Karak in southern Jordan, providing free music lessons in our Manjali project. The range of lessons includes choir, ensemble, music theory, and instruments such as the violin, oud, and Arabic percussion.

Al-Musiqa Tajm’ana equips musicians, teachers and community practitioners with the skills to lead inclusive music programmes with children from all communities. In addition to our own music leadership training courses, we partner with Music as Therapy International, delivering a contextually relevant hybrid course that builds knowledge and skills in the use of music for the therapeutic support of children living with disabilities.

Mission

Musicians from Al-Musiqa Tajm’ana support children and young people through inclusive music programmes. By combining practical training with community partnerships, we expand access to music for vulnerable communities and build the infrastructure to ensure sustainability. Current priorities include:

• Music for under-served youth and children in al-Karak A full program of weekly instrumental lessons, ensemble sessions and choir rehearsals, leading to shared performances of folk songs and culturally diverse repertoire. Local performances and international exchanges enrich the program’s social engagement goals.
• Music Leadership Training Musicians, music students and teachers receive practical training to facilitate inclusive music activities that strengthen wellbeing, resilience and social connection. Training draws from our own music leadership methodology, and our courses co-designed with Music as Therapy International.
• Strengthening Local Capacity Together with local and international partners, the programme continues to develop a sustainable network of skilled music leaders who can respond to the needs of their own communities.
